IKKOKU – Standard Shinai with Thick Grip
IKKOKU is a standard-shape shinai featuring a thicker grip for a firm and stable hold.
The handle measures about 26mm (size 38) and 28mm (size 39) — 2–3mm thicker than standard models.
This design helps reduce hand movement and improves control during strikes and counterattacks.
Made from madake bamboo, it provides great flexibility and balance.
Complies with All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) standards and includes the official SSP sticker.
The name “IKKOKU” means “a single moment”, expressing the spirit of focusing and enjoying every instant of practice.

Size 38: 117 cm – Men: approx. 480 g | Women: approx. 420–440 g
Size 39: 120 cm – Men: approx. 510 g | Women: approx. 440 g
(Weights are approximate and may vary due to natural bamboo. Please note: 38-size women’s approx. 420 g is for high school girls’ division in Japan and cannot be used in general adult women’s competitions.)
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.

・Each kendo equipment and uniform brand follows its own design standards, so slight differences may exist even with the same size specifications.
