KUNIYOSHI KORESAKU – “Top Performance” Solid Bio-Processed Dobari Shinai
The KUNIYOSHI KORESAKU series offers a full lineup of Standard, Dobari, and Kotō styles — trusted by a wide range of practitioners, from youth players to top-level competitors.
Each shinai is individually handcrafted in Japan, using carefully selected bamboo chosen for balance and strength that meet the KUNIYOSHI standards.
This Top Performance Solid Bio model is made from solid bio-processed bamboo, which increases durability and produces a deeper brown surface color. The result is a firm, satisfying impact and exceptional longevity.
Solid bio-processed shinais are increasingly popular in Japan for both intensive keiko (training) and competition use.
The Dobari style brings the balance point closer to the hands, providing smooth control and effortless swing.
This premium model is favored by Japanese national team members and renowned competitors alike.

●Shinai Styles
・Standard Shinai
Neutral balance. The most common type, suitable for all levels.
・Dobari Shinai
Weight near the handle. Best for quick, fast strikes and competition.
・Koto Shinai
Weight is distributed across the whole shinai, centering toward the middle. Favored by experienced players for powerful, solid impact.
●Reference: Typical Shinai Size & Weight
Size 38: 117 cm – Men: approx. 480 g | Women: approx. 420–440 g
Size 39: 120 cm – Men: approx. 510 g | Women: approx. 440 g
(Weights are approximate and may vary due to natural bamboo. Please note: 38-size women’s approx. 420 g is for high school girls’ division in Japan and cannot be used in general adult women’s competitions.)
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.
