GODOU is a Dobari-style shinai, designed with its balance positioned closer to the hands, making it exceptionally easy to swing and control.
This model uses keichiku bamboo processed through Solid-Bio treatment—a heat and smoke process that enhances the bamboo’s durability. The surface turns a distinctive dark brown, giving the shinai a firm and satisfying striking feel.
Solid-Bio processed shinai have become extremely popular in Japan, widely used for both keiko and competition. The GODOU model is especially well-regarded and is even used by Japanese national team members and top-level competitors.
Suitable for everything from daily practice to tournaments, this Dobari-style shinai is a preferred choice among many competitive kendoka.

Neutral balance. The most common type, suitable for all levels.
・Dobari Shinai
Weight near the handle. Best for quick, fast strikes and competition.
・Koto Shinai
Weight is distributed across the whole shinai, centering toward the middle. Favored by experienced players for powerful, solid impact.

(Weights are approximate and may vary due to natural bamboo. Please note: 38-size women’s approx. 420 g is for high school girls’ division in Japan and cannot be used in general adult women’s competitions.)
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.
