Sharp, Light, and Instantly Responsive — HOTARUMARU
HOTARUMARU is a Dōbari-style shinai, featuring a tapered tip and a fuller midsection.
Within the Dōbari category, HOTARUMARU is shaped with an even more pronounced body, making the tip feel lighter and allowing for exceptionally smooth and quick swings. This design is highly favored by many competitors and is ideal for both daily practice and tournament use.
The grip thickness is φ26mm for size 39 and φ25mm for size 38, both considered standard.
HOTARUMARU responds quickly during intense strikes and enables swift reactions to an opponent’s techniques.
An SSP certification seal is affixed, confirming compliance with the All Japan Kendo Federation’s regulations.

・Standard Shinai
Neutral balance. The most common type, suitable for all levels.
・Dobari Shinai
Weight near the handle. Best for quick, fast strikes and competition.
・Koto Shinai
Weight is distributed across the whole shinai, centering toward the middle. Favored by experienced players for powerful, solid impact.

(Weights are approximate and may vary due to natural bamboo. Please note: 38-size women’s approx. 420 g is for high school girls’ division in Japan and cannot be used in general adult women’s competitions.)
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.

・Each kendo equipment and uniform brand follows its own design standards, so slight differences may exist even with the same size specifications.
