●Product Description
The OUGA is a standard-type shinai designed for high performance in real practice and matches.
Despite its solid construction, it is surprisingly light, allowing for quick and effortless strikes.
A unique feature of the OUGA is its special tip shaping, which makes the tip lighter. This provides excellent maneuverability and allows you to start your strike faster and with better control – ideal for match-style training and precision practice.
Grip Thickness:
Size 38: approx. 24 mm (bare bamboo, left-hand grip)
Size 39: approx. 26 mm (bare bamboo, left-hand grip)
These are considered standard grip thicknesses, making this shinai comfortable and familiar to most practitioners.
Crafted from Keichiku bamboo, the OUGA is known for its strength and durability. Keichiku bamboo has naturally thin slats, giving it excellent flexibility and snap upon impact. This allows you to take advantage of the bamboo’s natural rebound, making it ideal for practicing continuous strikes.
Take your kendo training to the next level with the OUGA shinai – a perfect balance of strength, lightness, and control.
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.
