RYUKATSUKIWAMI is crafted using carefully selected madake bamboo that is ideal for producing a thicker, more robust finish.
It is shaped with a special vertical shaving technique that enhances its durability and striking feel.
This shinai is a Kotō-style, tapered design, offering excellent balance when held in kamae (stance).
The handle thickness is 28 mm, making it a thicker grip type.
The bamboo is gradually tapered from the handle toward the tip, resulting in a shinai that is easy to maneuver and allows for smooth, crisp strikes with minimal effort.

(Weights are approximate and may vary due to natural bamboo. Please note: 38-size women’s approx. 420 g is for high school girls’ division in Japan and cannot be used in general adult women’s competitions.)
●Care & Maintenance
・Store in a shinai case, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
・We recommend using both a shinai bag and the protective plastic cover provided at purchase.
・A tsuba (guard) and tsuba-dome (rubber stopper) are required for practice (sold separately).
・Check your shinai frequently during practice for splinters or cracks. Replace immediately if damage is found.
・Long-term storage may cause bamboo to dry, discolor, or become brittle. Avoid using an aged shinai.
・Over time, bamboo may dry out and slightly lose weight.
・The nakayui (leather tie) and tsuru (string) may loosen with use. Regular maintenance is recommended.

・Each kendo equipment and uniform brand follows its own design standards, so slight differences may exist even with the same size specifications.
