KOKORO KENDO MEN Grid Stitch Design with Orizashi Fabric

Features of the KOKORO MEN:
・Machine Cross-Stitching
8mm cross-stitch on top of the head (nōten), 6mm cross-stitch on the men-dare (side flaps). Made with durable orizashi cotton fabric.
・Mengane (Metal Grill)
Made of duralumin HV. Designed to meet and exceed safety standards. Slightly widened in the central vision area for improved field of view—making it easier to see your opponent.
・Ago (Throat Protector) & Edging
Reinforced with high-quality synthetic leather. Durable and resistant to sweat and moisture, this synthetic material is easier to maintain than traditional deerskin.
・Main Impact Areas
Reinforced with durable, indigo-dyed orizashi fabric to withstand frequent strikes, especially around the men and kote zones.
・Filling – Ultra Felt Core
Uses a new shape-memory material called “Ultra Felt” inside the protective padding. Offers a structured, upright look when worn and ensures shock absorption while maintaining mobility. Cross-stitching the Ultra Felt enhances structural integrity without compromising movement.
・Cross-Stitch Detail
The 8mm square pattern at the top (nōten) is specifically designed for shock absorption. The men-dare sections are 6mm stitched at a different angle to allow better arm movement during shinai swings.
・Inner Lining
Uses tricot fabric—a soft, stretchable, and breathable material that holds its shape over time, providing superior comfort during extended practice.

●Takeshima’s Recommendation
The KOKORO CROSS is one of the most popular machine-stitched men models in Japan. This model is carefully crafted with premium materials and is built to endure intense keiko and competitive matches.
Cross-stitching, also known as “”juji-bari,”” involves both vertical and horizontal machine stitching. This technique helps evenly distribute the force of strikes and enhances durability.
Taking twice the effort of standard machine stitching, the KOKORO CROSS achieves a hand-stitched-like appearance and an ideal firmness—not too hard, not too soft.
With continued use, the padding molds to your head, improving fit and mobility, making it an excellent partner for serious kendo practitioners.

Maintenance Tips
①Dry Properly:
After use, shape the Men and Kote, then air-dry them in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading and material degradation.
②Avoid Folding Men Flaps:
Let the Men-dare (ear flaps) hang naturally or store them properly to maintain their shape.
③Maintain Kote Shape:
Smooth out the wrinkles in the Tenouchi and reshape the Kote to maintain its original form.
④Wipe Sweat and Oils:
Clean the inner Men padding, especially around the chin area, where sweat accumulates.
If salt or sweat residue appears white on the surface, gently mist with water or wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid rubbing too hard, especially on indigo-dyed areas, as it can cause discoloration.
⑤Soften the Kote Head:
Over time, sweat can harden the glove. Before use, gently knead the Kote to restore softness for a better fit.

●Notes
・Each Kendo equipment brand manufactures its products based on its own unique design philosophy and standards. As a result, even if the size specifications are the same, there may be slight differences in details such as the thickness of the men-shin (helmet padding), the shape of the do (chest protector), or the length of the kote (gloves).
・The Orizashi fabric used in this set is dyed overseas. While it offers a beautiful shade of indigo, please note that there may be subtle differences in tone and texture compared to high-end Japanese-made fabrics.
・Indigo-dyed fabrics may initially transfer color to the skin or clothing. This will gradually fade with continued use.
・The outer fabric is made from 100% cotton and is similar to the thick material used for kendogi (Kendo uniforms). Two main fabric types are commonly used in Kendo armor:
Orizashi: A woven-textured cotton fabric.
Kon-tan: A smoother, tighter-woven fabric, typically used for hakama.
・Due to differences in devices and viewing environments, the color and texture of the product may appear slightly different from the actual item. Thank you for your understanding.
