SD6 Kote Single Item Kote Machine-Stitched All-Purpose Model Super Dry 6mm
Specifications of SD6 Kote
・6mm Machine Stitching
・Breathable Dry Mesh Fabric
・Palm (grip area): Synthetic Leather
・Available Sizes: M, L, XL
–Washable & Lightweight–
The entire kote is made using dry mesh material, with cotton padding used in the knuckle area (kote-atama).
It is designed not only for breathability and comfort but also to absorb and reduce impact on key striking zones like the knuckles and forearms.
To reduce weight and improve handling, decorative stitching on the knuckle and wrist areas—typically seen on traditional kote—has been replaced with machine stitching.
–Designed to Be Washable–
The moment you touch it, you’ll think, “This is washable!”
Thanks to the choice of modern materials, this kote offers better ventilation and dries faster than traditional cotton or indigo-dyed kote.
No color fading: Since no indigo dye is used, you can safely wash it by hand or even in a washing machine. (Please avoid using a dryer.)
●Takeshima’s Recommendation
At Takeshima Budo Equipment, we’ve been developing washable kote for over 20 years. In 2009, we released the original “Bukotsu SD Kote,” the foundation of this model.
This new “SD6” model is a refined evolution that emphasizes comfort, usability, and ease of maintenance—designed to be something you’ll want to wash.
・Outer Material: Dry Mesh Polyester
・Palm: Synthetic Leather
Traditional decorative stitching on the knuckle and wrist areas has been removed and replaced with ergonomic machine-stitched ridges to retain form and functionality. (See product photos.)
Horizontal stitching on the fist area and vertical stitching on the wrist provide necessary structure while improving flexibility and making washing easier.
Experience the upgraded “SD6 – Super Dry 6mm,” the next generation of the original washable kote.
Maintenance Tips
① After Use:
Shape the kote properly and hang them to air dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
②Maintain the Form:
After use or washing, stretch out any creases in the palm and restore the kote to its original shape for best performance.
③Dealing with Salt Stains:
Sweat residue or salt may appear on the surface over time. As this kote is made from washable synthetic and cotton materials, you can rinse it clean.
Note: Do not scrub the surface too hard as it may damage the fabric.
④Softening the Fist Area:
The knuckle area may harden with repeated use due to sweat and moisture. Gently massage and loosen the material before use to keep it flexible and comfortable.
●Notes
・Each Kendo equipment brand manufactures its products based on its own unique design philosophy and standards. As a result, even if the size specifications are the same, there may be slight differences in details such as the thickness of the men-shin (helmet padding), the shape of the do (chest protector), or the length of the kote (gloves).
・The Orizashi fabric used in this set is dyed overseas. While it offers a beautiful shade of indigo, please note that there may be subtle differences in tone and texture compared to high-end Japanese-made fabrics.
・Indigo-dyed fabrics may initially transfer color to the skin or clothing. This will gradually fade with continued use.
・The outer fabric is made from 100% cotton and is similar to the thick material used for kendogi (Kendo uniforms). Two main fabric types are commonly used in Kendo armor:
Orizashi: A woven-textured cotton fabric.
Kon-tan: A smoother, tighter-woven fabric, typically used for hakama.
・Due to differences in devices and viewing environments, the color and texture of the product may appear slightly different from the actual item. Thank you for your understanding.
