This hakama features a deep, rich color and texture thanks to its high-quality aizome (indigo dye) finish.
“No. 8500 fabric” indicates the yarn density used in production. For example, No. 6000 fabric has lower density, resulting in a softer, lighter material but more prone to shrinkage and deformation. Conversely, No. 12000 fabric has a higher density, giving it a darker color and greater shape retention, but it tends to be heavier and stiffer.

The TAKA Hakama, made with No. 8500 fabric, offers a great balance between firmness and flexibility, making it suitable for regular use.
The Aizome fabric used is dyed overseas but provides quality and richness comparable to Japanese-dyed fabric.
The garment undergoes a washed finish during production, reducing the risk of excessive shrinkage after your first wash.

Please note that this aizome fabric is dyed outside Japan, and while the quality is excellent, it may differ slightly in depth and hue compared to premium Japanese aizome fabrics.
Due to the nature of aizome, the indigo dye may initially transfer to the skin. This will diminish with use over time.

●Maintenance
・Wash with cold water or mild non-fluorescent detergent. Hand washing is recommended.
・After washing, align the pleats and dry in the shade in a well-ventilated area to preserve shape.
・Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which may cause fading or deterioration. Short drying periods (1–2 hours) are acceptable, but never leave it out for multiple days.
・When hand-washing, lay the hakama flat and gently press-wash to maintain the pleats and structure.
・As the material is cotton, slight shrinkage may occur. If you notice shrinkage, gently stretch the fabric and dry it in the shade.
・Do not use a dryer under any circumstances.
・Due to the properties of natural indigo dye, color transfer and fading are expected. Please avoid over-washing to remove dye completely. The gradual fading and character of the color over time are part of the traditional aizome aesthetic.
